Parque Arví – Medellin

By The Colombian Way

An immaculate natural park borne out of a desire to secure a city’s water supply.

What is Parque Arví?

The Park is a 16,000 hectare natural park covering 4 different municipalities, Medellín, Envigado, Bello, and Copacabana. It is accessible from Medellín via MetroCable line L and from the Antioquia town of Santa Elena.

The protection of this area of the Aburrá Valley to secure Medellín’s mountain water supply was the motive for Empresas Públicas de Medellín, or EPM, and other public bodies to work together to designate the park as it exists today.

What is there to do at Parque Arví?

The main attraction of Parque Arví is its 12 well defined and maintained nature trails, it affords abundant hiking opportunities on the doorstep of Medellín.

The park also makes for an ideal location for camping, cycling, a relaxing picnic, or a visit to the Environmental & Cultural Centre Ignacio Vélez Escobar.

Visiting Parque Arví

There are a few options for visiting the park, most obviously it is accessed by cable car from Estación Santo Domingo. In contrast to the views of crowded hillsides from MetroCable line L, the second cable car onwards carries passengers over dense forest.

You can return the same way, or you can continue to the town of Santa Elena before returning to downtown Medellín by bus.

The Colombian Way offers Parque Arví as a custom extension to our Medellín city tours.
