Destination availability, current situation & forecast

Colombia has reopened to tourism. Here is what may temporarily be unavailable and why.

Tour store

Our tour store has an intelligent calendar function which permits us to block certain dates, ranges of dates, create lead in times, limit bookings too far into the future and block days of the week. Many of our destinations are operating as normal, some have restrictions placed on their availability within the calendar.

It may still be possible to book these destinations offline by contacting us, however online bookings may have longer lead in times and other limitations due to uncertainty about deliverability and protocols.

Where we have chosen to temporarily restrict online sales, we should make it clear that this is for our own operational reasons and these destinations are not closed to tourism.

Barichara

Tours from Barichara all have a rolling 60 day lead in time which we will keep under review and reduce accordingly. We do not expect to offer these services normally until February 2021. Río Fonce rafting tours have had all dates greyed out until there is clarity about biosecurity protocols in rafts.

Bogotá

All destinations in the Bogotá category of our tour store currently have a 30 day lead in time.

Cartagena

Most destinations in the Cartagena category of our tour store are operating normally. The exception is Isla Barú due to uncertainty about biosecurity protocols on beaches and in marine transfers.

Coffee zone

Most tours in the Coffee zone category of our tour store are operating normally with the exception of Los Nevados 3 day treks and Río Blanco birdwatching.

Manizales

Tours to Salento & Cocora from Manizales and Hacienda Venecia, and our Manizales city tour currently have a 60 day rolling lead in time.

Nevado del Ruíz and Nevado Santa Isabel are operating normally.

Medellín

Café de la Cima, Jardín transport option, Río Claro and Santa Fé de Antioquia are all subject to a rolling 60 day lead in time.

Guatapé and El Peñón and Medellín city tours are operating normally.

Pasto

Las Lajas is operating normally.

Popayán

All tours in the Popayán category of our tour store are operating normally.

San Agustín

All tours in the San Agustín category of our tour store are operating normally.

Santa Marta

Santa Marta city tours have a rolling 60 day lead in time.

Kogi Tungueka currently has no availability until there is confirmed compliance with biosecurity protocols

Minca birdwatching, Minca tour options, and Parque Tayrona tour options are all operating normally.

Santiago de Cali

Tours in Cali have a rolling 60 day lead in time with the exception of tours to Silvia from Cali which are operating normally.

Tatacoa

Tatacoa tours are operating normally.

Other destinations

Despite strong interest from travellers, Caño Cristales did not manage to reopen in 2020. We expect the 2021 season to start normally in May 2021.

Los Nevados 3 day treks are currently not available due to the national parks authority prohibiting overnight stays in national parks.

All other destinations are operating normally.

Outlook

We are hoping for a continued managed restart of our outstanding services by February 2021 at the latest. We will have a more informed view of this by January 2021 and are monitoring any external developments.

Future planning

We expect a full resumption of services by February 2021 and we are currently planning tours on behalf of clients well into 2021.
