Tour Plan
Experience Cartagena, the pearl of the Caribbean and a must see Colombian city. The tour begins with a beautiful eco-hotel in the Golfo de Morrosquillo, after that onwards to Cartagena, a city with many treasures to discover and a private tour guide to show you the way.
Your next stop is the fishing village of Taganga where you will stay in private serviced apartments close to the beach in the best location in Taganga. Enjoy the international atmosphere and travel back in time with a visit to the Hacienda San Pedro Alejandrino.
The next stop is the awe inspiring Tayrona National Park. Alongside Cartagena the most famous destination on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Idyllic beaches, comfortable and idiosyncratically unique accommodation and spectacular coastal forests make for an unforgettable travel experience.
At the same time learn of the indigenous Tayrona Indian culture, the original peoples of the region and one of Colombia’s oldest cultures.
The last stop on the Colombian Beach Hopper tour is the superb Finca Barlovento located on a spectacular beach. All in all, the perfect tour of the finest beach destinations that Colombia has to offer and a uniquely Colombian experience. The Colombian Beach Hopper is also the perfect round trip for those that seek some beach-based solitude.
The tour draws to a close with your return to Santa Marta airport where we organise your return by air to Bogotá.
Day 1
The tour begins on the Caribbean coast, normally at Cartagena airport. There you will be picked up and taken to a beautiful eco-hotel in el Golfo de Morrosquillo. Situated on a peaceful Caribbean beach, this accommodation lets you start your trip at one with nature as it offers you some incredible opportunities to go diving or snorkelling, a guided trip through the mangroves in canoes or a trip to the nearby nature reserve at Sanguare.
Enjoy the glorious surroundings and the interesting variety of fauna and flora, you can also take a trip to the San Bernardo Islands, we are always at hand to precisely plan your time as you want. Many travellers choose to simply relax and enjoy the tranquillity that the destination offers.
Day 2
Day at leisure in the eco-hotel or a second day of activities for the more active traveller.
Day 3
A second day to relax and enjoy the Caribbean.
Day 4
Experience the passion and life of Cartagena and take in its unique atmosphere as music and dance fills the colonial streets, listen to the vallenato musicians in the Plaza Santo Domingo or watch the street performers, treat yourself to a drink at Café del Mar and watch the sunset. After breakfast you will leave this coastal paradise and head to Cartagena arriving in the afternoon. You will be transferred to one of our preferred hotels in the city’s historic old town, right in the heart of the world’s most spectacular Spanish colonial walled city.
Day 5
Our guide will pick you up at 9am from your hotel and take you on a guided walking tour of Cartagena’s old town’s most historic and beautiful sights. Visit the Palace of the Inquisition and the San Pedro Claver Church in addition to the historically important Getsemaní district of the city. Visit also the San Felipe Fortress, the largest fort built by the Spaniards outside of Europe. Take yourself back in time as you look down on the old town and look up to the Pie de la Popa monastery higher up the hill. We return you to your hotel in the afternoon, if you still have energy you have another night to enjoy Cartagena city’s charms. Note: The walking tour and the heat can be strenuous, be sure to keep yourself hydrated.
Day 6
A leisure day to enjoy Cartagena at your own pace, at your request we can add a excursions to the Rosario Islands, Playa Blanca or the mud volcano at Totumo near Barranquilla.
Day 7
After breakfast you leave and head to Santa Marta before continuing on to Taganga, a picturesque fishing village in the bay near Santa Marta. Enjoy a beautiful sunset across the bay and take in the night life, Taganga has many beach bars and fish restaurants. Round the evening off with a tall cool drink. Taganga has a particularly international atmosphere as it is a popular destination for the international traveller.
Day 8
After breakfast you will be picked up at your hotel and taken on a city tour of Santa Marta. There visit the city’s major sights, its cathedral and the beach strip. The highlight of the trip is a visit to the Hacienda San Pedro Alejandrino, the place of death of Simon Bolívar, liberator of Gran Colombia. It’s a magnificent and perfectly preserved hacienda steeped in history. Later in the afternoon you will return to your hotel in Taganga.
If you like diving or snorkelling, or even if it is your first time, we can include activities at one of Taganga’s many dive schools. Taganga is one of the most popular dive destinations on the Caribbean coast.
Day 9
Day 10After breakfast we head for the Tayrona National Park where you will stay in your eco-habs in the Cañaveral sector of the park, two storey log cabins located directly above the country’s most stunning beaches. This is true paradise.
You have a free day in the park to either relax or to take a trek to El Pueblito, an old Kogi Indian village, the trek is physically demanding but absolutely worth the effort. In the afternoon you can relax on the beach or change hotels and spend a night at La Piscina an ideal place for swimming and snorkelling.
Day 11
After breakfast you will be picked up and continue your journey, the last stop on our Colombian Beach Hopper tour is Barlovento, A beautiful finca located on a rocky outcrop close to Tayrona.
Day 12
The penultimate day of the tour, yours to enjoy in Barlovento.
Day 13
After breakfast transfer to the airport of Santa Marta.
This round trip is bespoke and tailored to your wishes. Although the trip can be combined with any of our packages, the following are suggested options for this trip.

Day 6
A trip to Islas del Rosario and Playa Blanca, San Pedro de Majagua or the Mud Volcano of Totumo

Choose to break your trip by adding in a 5-day trek to La Ciudad Perdida, the lost city of the Kogi Indians
Day 8
Diving in Taganga.
Day 11
Stay at Palomino or Taironaka instead of Barlovento
Day 13
Extend your trip to Cabo de la Vela in La Guajira.
