Getting to Villa de Leyva

This page was created as a resource for independent travellers that contact us about packages to Villa de Leyva where travelling in private transport as a sole traveller is not practical or economically viable.

We do not maintain timetables or details of which companies service which routes.

Bogotá to Villa de Leyva

Services depart from Terminal de Transporte de Bogotá or Portal Norte. You can get to Portal Norte either in a taxi or on the Transmilenio. For Portal Norte we recommend waiting at the side of the road by Éxito supermarket. Larger buses tend to be more comfortable and slower but stop more often to fill up with extra passengers.

Direct services are self explanatory, you will be taken all the way to Villa de Leyva bus terminal.

Changing services at Tunja

There are far more services for people prepared to change at Tunja. Changing at Tunja is safe and straightforwards. From where you arrive you will see a slightly elevated area with smaller micro-buses. Enter the terminal and leave the other side where these smaller bus services are found.

Continue onwards to Villa de Leyva

Villa de Leyva to Bogotá

Simply reverse the above instructions to return to Bogotá.

Important

If returning to Portal Norte with the intention of continuing your trip by taxi you need to disembark at Centro Comercial Santa Fé which is a few blocks before Portal Norte. If you go all the way to Portal Norte you will get stuck in the Transmilenio station.
